The Adronicus Mastiff originator is California resident Cary Mejia. "All purebred dogs in existence have been developed
by the crossing of chosen breeds to create an animal that would have certain qualities and unique functions, such as a hunting
dog and hound dog. However, in my experience and having owned rare breeds, there always seemed to be something missing. For example, some rare
breeds look good with no ability and others have ability, but no looks. Mental capabilities in some breeds seem to be excellent
while others are just expensive dogs that lack intelligence.
So laying aside all conventional wisdom, I
began to pursue the creation of the canine of all canines, knowing full-well that it would not be an acceptable idea to most pure bred breeders.
I talked to many breeders and the thought of crossing this purebred dog to another purebred dog was appalling.
Their reply was, “that would ruin a breed”. Ruin a breed? Many breeds have already been ruined because of so much inbreeding and have major genetic faults;
one study said 25% of all purebred dogs in America are affected with serious genetic problems.
So I knew that if I continued doing what has all ready been done, then I would be where everybody has already been, which has
not proven to be such a good idea after all!"
